Have you ever wondered why sometimes you put an outfit on, look in the mirror and feel like you look great and yet at other times you just do not think you look right and you can’t quite see why?
One reason why some clothes look better on us than others is down to their colour. We all have our own unique colour patterns which are created by the pigments in our skin, our eyes and our hair. If you wear colours in harmony with your own colouring you will look better, you will look healthier, your skin will glow, your eyes will become more noticeable and you will even look younger! The emotional impact of wearing your best colours is huge as knowing that you look good makes you feel great. You will also save money buying clothes in the right colours which you will wear, no more wasted purchases!
Colours have an amazing impact on our daily lives they affect our mood, our appetite and even our blood pressure! We are drawn more to some colours than others, for example, for some green is a colour of nature and a healing colour, it is well known that “Green rooms” are used to help people relax before going onto say a television show, yet for others green is representative of bad luck, particularly for those of a sea fairing background and some people literally won’t wear green as it reminds them of their school uniform!
Colours also denote occasions and can show authority or approachability depending on how they are worn. Black can symbolise sophistication and elegance as can be seen by black tie events or can symbolise authority as in a police officers uniform. To some red is a vibrant and assertive colour whereas to others it can be seen as over powering and unapproachable. The key is how to wear your colours and how to use them for certain events or occasions.
Colour analysis is based on the qualities of the colour which are the depth, the undertone and the clarity. The process involves draping a selection of individual swatches in lots of different colours to determine the dominant features of an individual by observing the effects of the colours on them. You will find that with the exception of black and white that you can wear all colours; it is the quality of the colour which is important. So you will find the perfect shade and tone for you.
